The Attractions
Launched at the same time as the new Fiat 126, the 500 R (or Rinnovata) shared the 600 cc engine of its new, more modern sibling and is therefore one of the most usable classic Fiat 500s. Very few were made, so the remaining examples are highly sought after.
This 1972 Fiat 500 R was the subject of a recent restoration, completed by the seller after purchasing the car with work to be completed in 2020. Now finished to a high standard, this car awaits a new owner who wants to use and enjoy it. It presents itself impeccably in every respect, and is a very attractive opportunity for those who want a complete and well-tuned car.
History and Documentation
- Not ASI registered
- Odometer read 83,000 km, but after restoration the mileage was reset to 0
- Withdrawn from circulation in 2000 and thus remains unregistered for road use
- Retains ACI documentation for re-registration in Italy, or any other country
- Restoration started in 2017 by previous owner
- The seller bought it partially restored - the bodywork was finished but work had stopped there
Restoration was started in 2017, with dismantling and painting in its original colour carried out by the previous owner, who then abandoned the restoration. In 2020 it was purchased by the new owner and, apart from the bodywork, underwent a total restoration/revision.
The restoration work was completed by repainting the four wheels and fitting four tyres with new inner tubes. The 500 is free of any traces of rust or corrosion and retains all original sheet metal.
