  • Over £50,000 spent since 2015
  • Beautiful condition throughout

The Appeal

The DBS was a magnificent grand tourer designed by William Towns, and was initially powered by a straight 6, but quickly gained the 5.3 litre V8 which had always been intended for it, making it the fastest production four seater in the world. The DBS Series 2 V8 with just two headlights was later referred to simply as the V8 following an initial run of 288 cars which used up the existing engine stocks.

This example is believed to be one of those 288 DBS Series 2 V8 models with a fuel-injected V8. It has had care lavished upon it in recent years with receipts for £50,000 of work in the files and so it presents beautifully inside and out.

The History and Paperwork

  • Most old MOTs verify mileage
  • Receipts for £37,000 for welding and other remedial work at Newlands Motors, classic specialist
  • £6000 suspension rebuild by Chicane Aston Martin
  • Recent oil service

The Interior

  • Superb biscuit Connelly Hide seats
  • New carpet set
  • Hidden bluetooth connectivity
The Aston Martin’s cabin is a wonderful place to be. Its biscuit Connelly Hide seats are in stunning condition with only a light patina of use and very few signs of wear, the centre console and door cards are covered in matching hide and also in excellent condition, the doors having a carpeted lower section housing twin speakers behind period silver grills.

Under foot there are new carpets from Coverdale and the pleated leather heading is very good.

Covered in black leather, the dashboard is  pure 1970s glamour featuring chrome beveled dials and a three spoke leather rimmed steering wheel. Its all in great shape and has such luxuries as electric windows and air conditioning.

The Exterior

  • Paintwork is excellent and has been ceramic coated
  • Correct GKN alloy two colour alloy wheels
  • Sill and door bottoms repaired by specialist
Imposing in Dubonnet Rosso red, the cars panels are smooth and flat with even shut lines and only one small ding in the drivers door, and the paint is deep and glossy with only very few stone chips around the car, its appearance improved further by the recent ceramic coating to keep it protected. Below it has been undersealed to protect it as well.

It has the original GKN alloy wheels with white highlights have been refurbished so are in superb condition and wearing Avon tyres with deep tread all round.

The bumpers have been rechromed and look stunning, complementing the crispness of the glass lamp lenses and radiator grill.

The Mechanics

  • Extensively gone through by Newlands Motors servicing and replacing as necessary
  • Gearbox serviced in 2015
  • New radiator in 2015
  • Suspension rebuilt and upgraded with Non shocks in 2017
  • Both brake servos replaced - One in 2017 and the other in 2020
Under the bonnet the all is extremely clean around the 5.3 litre Lagonda V8, and shows many new parts from service and maintenance work. At the front is a new radiator, built to pattern by a specialist in 2015 and fitted with an electric fan, and one of the brake servos was replaced in 2017.

There are no signs of fluid leaks around the engine bay, and the automatic gearbox was sent to a transmission specialist for overhaul in 2015, at a cost of £786.

The car starts and runs perfectly, firing easily and idling quietly before slipping into drive and moving off smoothly. It was recently given an oil service before being returning to dehumidified storage.

Summary

This is a truly stunning car, a brutally elegant machine with the superb Lagonda V8 and in excellent condition inside and out having had specialist classic garages take exceptional care of it.
