The Appeal
Alfa Romeo was keen to satisfy the demand for a practical sports car, and the four-door Giulia remains a fixture of the Milanese manufacturer's range to this day. The idea was a simple yet effective one; to build a car a family could use everyday while still being engaging to drive. This 1972 Giulia Super 1600 exemplifies this concept.
As the top-spec 'Biscione' model, it features luxurious trim including (but not limited to) a black strip in the headlining, serpent insignia on the C pillars and a slightly different bonnet (with an aluminium strip down the middle).
We're assured that the Alfa has been well-maintained, having undergone a comprehensive renovation in France and thorough detailing work since its arrival in Poland. Its lowered suspension and Koni shock absorbers ensure good handling, making it enjoyable to drive whether for daily use or classic touring rallies.
The vendor comments:
"The Italian advertising slogan was "Giulia, a car designed by the wind". Modern, with a body shaped in a wind tunnel, it received a drive in the form of wonderful, temperamental twin-cam engines, combined to a large extent with a five-speed gearbox. It debuted in 1962 as the 92-horsepower Giulia TI, from the very beginning Italians were delighted with its dynamics and waited for even faster versions.
In the years 1963-64, the Giulia TI Super joined, and after it from 1965 the Giulia Super, known until 1969 as "Bollo Oro" and as "Biscione" from 1969 to 1972, due to the characteristic friezes used on the rear pillars. The former received a golden Alfa Romeo logo on the C pillars, the latter - the silhouette of a snake. The power of the Giulia Super 1.6 is 98-103 HP according to the DIN standard. As the name suggests, these cars are truly great to drive."
