1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Cabriolet

Highlights

  • Custom colour scheme: Matt Gun Metal Grey exterior over a red leather interior

  • Substantial history file dating back to the 1970s

The Appeal

Combining the reliable underpinnings of the ubiquitous Beetle with a stylish Italian-designed body was a masterstroke by Volkswagen. The Karmann Ghia was easy to maintain and cheap to run, while its exquisite coachbuilt bodywork made it among the most beautiful cars of its era.

This 1971 example is the elegant and desirable Cabriolet version. The vendor has owned it for over three decades. They tell us:

"We had purchased the vehicle since the early 90s for my wife, who had loved it like no other vehicles before it. it had previously remained the drive for approximately two to three years under cover, before being placed into the garage. Due to the weather there had been a lot of work required to which I believe had been fully carried out on the vehicle. The vehicle has now came out of the restoration workshop and has now had the body work completed and ready for sale."
As the photographs show, the Volkswagen is in lovely condition following its restoration and the various modifications really make it stand out from the crowd.
