1971 Triumph TR6

Highlights

  • Extensively restored example
  • Impressively well preserved and presented example
  • Finished in desirable specification
  • Large selection of invoices highlighting extensive work performed
  • Tax and MOT exempt

The Appeal

Straight six open top splendour. The Triumph TR6 was arguably the best of the bunch when looking at the TR lineup. The British roadster scene was becoming somewhat scarce by the time the TR6 arrived on the scene but it did an excellent job of reminding buyers that there was still an option for a good quality traditional British roadster, and as such is often seen to be one of the last of its kind, with the later TR7 and TR8 moving away from the traditional roadster ideals.

Today, the TR6 stands as a highly collectible piece of British sports car history, the marque’s poster child at the time, the TR6 sings of times when the brand dominated the industry and as such demand has always been consistently high. A genuine RHD example rather than the more commonly emerging LHD US imports, this charming 1971 car is a rather smart example of the beloved nameplate, in very presentable good overall condition aesthetically and mechanically, having had a great deal of restoration work undertaken throughout its more recent years.

The Condition

  • Extremely well presented example, emphasising the quality restoration work undertaken
  • Bodywork is in truly fine fettle, highlighting careful loving ownership post restoration
  • The car has undergone a colour change from its original Saffron yellow to a far more striking and vibrant orange hue and is paired with some complementing black decals
  • The paintwork itself is of a great quality and highlights very little, if anything in the way of marking or blemishing
  • External chromework and trim is of a similarly high standard with new bumpers and various other pieces understood to have been sourced as part of the resto

  • Factory fitted with a heater
  • Tri spoke wood rimmed steering wheel in very good condition
  • Plush black carpeting used throughout

The Mechanics

  • Highly revered 2.5 litre straight six engine
  • As we understand the unit in this particular car was subject to a rebuild in 2016
  • The engine and its surrounding ancillaries stand today in impressively clean order
  • The car fires into life well and produces a strong idle
  • On the road it appears to drive rather well, with smooth gear changes from the manual box and generally very good power delivery
  • Backed by a wealth of enthusiast support and parts supply
