This example has previously been restored and subsequently cared for like a family member as such, it sits in lovely condition and is ready to get going.
If you’re looking for a proper classic to add to your collection, then look no further than this great example. With the top down on a twisty B-road, the car will come alive leaving you with a massive smile on your face.

The History and Paperwork

  • Built on the 12th of October 1971 this Stag starts its journey on the 15th of October
  • It then heads to Stockport to be sold by Hollingdrakes Limited
  • We can pick up the story of this Stag in the late 90s/early 00s
  • It is at this point that it goes in for a full restoration
  • Looking at pictures taken at the time the car is stripped back to a bare shell
  • It is then resprayed from the original Damson to this fetching dark green
  • You gain an understanding of the amount of work completed through all of the paperwork
  • Once the restoration was complete it went straight back on the road
  • There is a lot of paperwork present with this Stag
  • More recent paperwork documents its modern history
  • There’s an invoice from 2018 that amounted to £3,246.60
  • Within this invoice, there are works for a new Mk.2 alternator, LED lamps, a new brake master cylinder, track control arms, drag struts, polyurethane bushes, rear road springs, and a reconditioned radiator
  • The current owner acquired the car in 2020
  • They too have completed a lot of work to the car to keep it in tip-top shape
  • Most recently both of the heads have been replaced
  • Its oil pump has been replaced
  • The front discs and pads have been uprated
  • The car has also been serviced very recently
  • There are also two sets of keys, old MOT certificates, and old registration documents
  • You have a lot of paperwork to sift through when you pick the car up

The Interior

  • Inside this Stag is in very good condition indeed
  • It is finished in a lovely combination of grey and green, with ample wood veneer
  • Looking at the driver’s seat we can see it is presented very well
  • There is no undue wear or rips/tears to the leather
  • This condition is repeated by the front and rear passenger seats
  • The front seats are also rather comfortable
  • Its wood veneer dash is in very good condition indeed
  • There are no obvious signs of cracking or delamination of this veneer
  • This veneer is then complemented well by the Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel
  • The current owner has had a later Stag dashboard top fitted with chrome embellishments
  • Looking at the black dash itself you can observe no cracks
  • One lovely feature of the interior can be found on the driver’s sun visor
  • You’ll find an original instructional sticker that explains how to put the roof up/down
  • The light green carpet is in good condition on the passenger side and in the rear compartment
  • There are marks on the driver's mat but this is only due to it being used
  • Its grey door cards are both in great condition
  • With the fabric hood up the headliner looks to be good
  • The headliner on the hardtop is in excellent condition having been hardly used since the refurbishment
  • In the boot, you’ll find a well-trimmed carpet set
  • Along with a spare wheel, wheel brace, and jack
  • Overall, the interior of this stag is in good overall condition
  • It’s now your chance to create many happy memories at the wheel of this stunning classic

The Exterior

  • Externally this Triumph Stag looks to be in very presentable condition
  • During its restoration in the early 2000s, the colour was changed to this deep green
  • Today this paint still looks very nice across all of the panels
  • There is a recent invoice that documents paintwork that was carried out to the bonnet, front panel, n/s door, o/s rear wing, and n/s door shut
  • The accompanying hardtop roof has also been coloured-coded to match the rest of the exterior
  • This hardtop is also in great condition, with optional pop-out windows at the rear
  • Its soft top fabric roof is in good condition
  • There were no obvious pulls, tears, or other damage observed during the photoshoot
  • A lot of the exterior is covered in chrome
  • This chrome work is in great condition across the board
  • All of these parts have managed to retain their mirror-like finish
  • This could be thanks to the car's current owner always keeping it in a garage when not in use
  • On the boot lid, you’ll spot the lovely picnic hamper holder
  • This small detail adds a lot of character to the exterior
  • On each corner, you’ll find a well presented alloy wheel
  • Overall, the exterior of this Stag is presented in good, presentable, condition
  • You could quite happily display this car at a classic car show during the summer

The Mechanics

  • Having just received refurbished heads, an oil pump, and full service this Stag performs well
  • On the day of the photoshoot, the car was driven to the location
  • During the drive, the car never complained
  • It started up on the first attempt every time it was required to move
  • The car shifted between its four forwards speeds without any crunching
  • Its overdrive was also demonstrated on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear during the drive
  • On each occasion, it engaged and subsequently dis-engaged without hesitating
  • As was stated in the history section the car had £3,000 spent on it in 2018
  • This included work to the suspension, radiator, and alternator
  • This recent expenditure should pay dividends throughout your ownership
  • A picture was taken of the oil pressure and volt gauges whilst the car was running
  • Overall, this Stag seems to be in good mechanical condition

Summary
