Pre-bids

1971 Triumph Spitfire Mk IV

Highlights

  • Valid Controle Technique until June 2025
  • Red livery with a black cabin
  • 1,296cc four-cylinder engine with 4-speed transmission
  • Registered in Spain since 2017

The Appeal

The penultimate version of the Spitfire was a very refined one. A redesigned front end and suspension made for an overall sleeker set of lines and much-improved handling, keeping Triumph's patriotically-named baby strong against its contemporaries. The British sports car formula was continuing to thrive, and the Spitfire was suitably appointed to lead the charge.

This fine example comes to us with a good six months left on its current Controle Technique, and we've no reports of any significant mechanical issues. Its rich red livery makes for a very handsome car that we've no doubt will capture plenty of admiring glances out on the road.

The History and Paperwork

  • Sadly we've not been informed of much regarding this car's history
  • Built in 1971
  • First registered in Spain in 2017
  • Current control technique until June 2025

The Condition

  • Rich red livery on stylish Michelotti-designed lines
  • Bodywork appears free of dents and dings
  • Paintwork carries some light wear and swirling
  • We've no reports of any problematic corrosion
  • Wire wheels look in good order
  • Interior carries light signs of wear, commensurate with age
  • Seats are sagging somewhat but appear free of rips and tears
  • All instruments appear bright and legible
  • Period music player is still in place

The Mechanics

  • Powered by a 1,296cc Standard SC 4-cylinder engine
  • 4-speed manual transmission
  • Engine looks in good order
  • We've no reports of any mechanical issues
  • Ultimately, we understand this to be a fine example
