THE APPEAL

The Sunbeam Alpine Fastback was introduced in 1969. Based on the floorpan of a Hillman Hunter, the Alpine was intended as a de-tuned version of the Sunbeam Rapier, designed to bridge the gap between the Singer Vogue and the Rapier. This was achieved by using a single carburettor and a less luxurious interior but still had the fantastic looks of the two-door pillarless coupé.
This 1971 example is a result of the vendor's hard work since 2017. Completely stripping everything back to a bare shell, nothing has been left untouched. The car has been fully repainted inside and out by the vendor, who turned his home garage into a spray booth. Once painted, the engine and running gear have been rebuilt or refurbished in some shape or form, before rebuilding the 70s classic into the fantastic pillarless fastback coupé it once was.

SUMMARY

Fully restored from the ground up by the vendor, the classic 70s Fastback has been given a new lease of life after spending 27 years locked away untouched. The work involved has been extensive, leaving nothing to chance; everything has been removed and rebuilt. Since the completion, around 500 miles have been covered in the Sunbeam Alpine Fastback, ensuring everything is as it should be.
This leaves an oil change due shortly once the engine is fully run in, and it's ready to be enjoyed for many more happy miles.
