1971 Rover 2000 SC

  • Engine and gearbox replaced with a newer 2200 TC unit

The Appeal

Rover dreamed big with the P6. Inspired by the Citroën DS and envisioned with such outlandish features as a gas turbine engine, the P6 was to represent a quantum leap in design and technology, which Rover hoped would translate to impressive sales.

While the jet engined Rovers never made it to market, the P6 was still thoroughly modern thanks to its innovative DS-style monocoque frame, De Dion tube rear suspension and all-round disc brakes. It looked great too, despite being rather unusual for the time. Priced competitively, it sold very well.

This 2000 TC is a splendid example that's been subject to a comprehensive restoration, including a total respray in the eye-catching Brooklands Green. The interior has been refurbished with new underfelt and carpets, and the leather seats have been recoloured and treated. The engine and gearbox have been replaced with a newer 2200 TC unit and the mechanicals are reportedly in very good health.

If you're looking for a smart four-cylinder P6 that's ready to enjoy, this is the one to go for.
