The Appeal

Porsche revived the Carrera name for its headlining 911 in 1973. Proudly dubbed the Carrera RS (RennSport), it was primarily intended as a limited edition product for Group 4 GT racing, which required at least five hundred units hitting the market. However, the resulting demand for this fabulous car proved so great that the production run was later extended by 1,300-or-so units. The result is that the Carrera RS met a much larger market, while remaining incredibly elusive for the modern enthusiast.

It's little wonder, then, that the 911 is often used as a basis to evoke that highly desirable car.

Taking the classic, ever-enduring Porsche 911, this lovely lookalike replicates the car's RS variant - which was, of course, one of the most potent and desirable cars to come from Stuttgart. The evocation has been finished to a high standard, with a 3.2-litre engine packed in the back, front and rear fibreglass bumpers from Schoenmann and sympathetic mechanical upgrades.

Factor in that oh-so-iconic white-and-red livery, and you've got a real looker. There's no bones about it, the resulting car is a highly evocative - but eminently usable - car. We've no doubt it'll prove to be a very desirable, very capable sports car for the lucky buyer, whether they opt to put it through its paces or maintain it as a stylish, nicely finished Sunday driver.
