1971 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller

Highlights

  • Beautifully presented 'Woody' Morris
  • Attractive colour scheme
  • Highly original throughout
  • Excellent candidate for restoration

The Appeal

The Morris Minor 1000 was an updated, faster variant of the legendary Morris Minor - intended to help drivers transition onto the then-new motorway network. It was, as with every car in the Minor's lineage, a huge success - and quickly became near-synonymous with  the British motorist.

Of all the Morris Minors, though, our favourite will be the traditional 'Woody' traveller - everything is a cooler when it's a wooden-clad estate car, after all.

This 1971 example is highly original, with a rich blue livery and a tan interior. It's carrying a charming patina and would, dependent upon your taste, make a fine candidate for restoration - or an eminently drivable classic.

The Condition

  • Chromework and badging showing some patina
  • Some paint loss and blistering
  • Wooden frame is looking a little worse for wear
  • Wheels are rather tired
  • Chassis is showing its age
  • Tan interior is in fair order

  • Some corrosion to the belts
  • Dashboard is in fair order

The Mechanics

  • 1,098cc A-Series four-cylinder powerplant

  • The vendor reports that it runs and drives well
  • We understand the car suffers from no mechanical issues
  • However, there is a light oil leak, which is fairly common for a Morris product of this age
