The Appeal

The Mini Van is perhaps one of the most iconic commercials in British motoring history. With its simple styling, and longer chassis taken from the Mini Traveller, they were characterful quarter-ton motors that gained plenty of success - particularly as it carried no sales tax back in the 1960s.
This example has been thoroughly restored. A new subframe, new chassis, new panels and a new engine have all brought it to the superb standard you find it in today, ready and waiting to hit the road with a new owner.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 1971
  • Restored from 2010 to 2020
  • In current ownership since February 2021
  • Fitted with a 1275cc GT engine, taken from a later Mini
  • Car is reportedly always stored indoors in a dehumidified Carcoon
  • We’re informed that the car comes with a full paperwork file
  • However this was not supplied with the photographs of the vehicle
  • Last MOT tested in May 2023 at 96,288 miles with zero advisories

The Interior

  • Restored black and white interior
  • Retrimmed in black leather throughout
  • Original dashboard layout with bare-bones instrumentation

  • Gauges are in good condition with no significant faults
  • Floor panels are new throughout and were painted in 2020
  • Carpets and headlining appear in good condition

The Exterior

  • Highly presented in white with new panels, doors and trims
  • Free of dents and dings
  • Beautifully presented paintwork
  • All chromework is bright and well-kept
  • New handles and rubber seals throughout
  • Doors are new and look superb
  • Glasswork and lenses all free of chips and cracks
  • The van is sat on a set of black wheels with flag branding
  • Arches are solid with no signs of corrosion
  • Underside in excellent order with an all-new chassis and subframe

The Mechanics

  • Powered by a 1275cc A-Series engine with Speedwell head
  • This was installed during the restoration and looks in superb order
  • 4-speed manual transmission
  • Engine bay is clean and well-kept with metalwork in good order
  • We’ve been informed of no technical faults with the car
  • We’ve received no reports of leaks, knocks, bangs or smoke throughout

Summary

A stunning restoration that’s in exceptional order - we’re sure this Mini Commercial will turn plenty of heads, and is very nicely finished. Whether you keep it in that immaculate white, or use it as a blank slate rich for customisation, this souped-up Mini Van is ready to become a very rewarding classic for any enthusiast.
