Pre-bids

1971 Jensen Interceptor FF

Highlights

  • One of only 320 ever made
  • Striking period colour combination and black vinyl roof
  • Subject to restoration before entering dry storage
  • Well-known in Jensen circles, believed to have been a GKN test mule

The Appeal

Pre-dating the introduction of the Jensen FF by well over a decade, the Jensen FF was one the earliest four-wheel-drive vehicles not specifically designed for off-road use. 'FF' stands for 'Ferguson Formula', as the chassis was developed with the help of Harry Ferguson's renowned agricultural firm. Jensen also added Dunlop Maxaret mechanical anti-lock braking, something it had previously trialled during production of the C-V8. The standard Interceptor's 6.3-litre Chrysler V8 remained, as did the TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission.

This 1971 example is a particularly handsome survivor from the mere 320 FFs Jensen ever made. 'KUJ 95J', is believed to have been first owned by automotive parts specialists GKN, serving as a test mule for the model's renowned four-wheel drive system. The previous owner had the car restored and it entered dry storage shortly after due to a change in personal circumstances. As the photographs show, the Jensen presents exceedingly well, with an oh-so '70s colour combination of an aquamarine blue over red leather and a black vinyl roof. The vendor informs us that the engine always starts first time and the FF drives well. However, they do recommend a service and general light recommissioning as the car has not undergone any work since leaving storage.

For Interceptor and FF fans, this lovely car surely represents an unmissable opportunity, It's rare to find an FF in such fine condition as this.
