The Appeal

For decades, the plucky little Fiat 500 has been a fixture of Italian motoring. With nearly four million produced, it’s no wonder that the familiar chatter of the legendary little car is still a familiar one at meets and shows, supported by their simple mechanics and easy-going, easily-customised nature.
This example, one of the (slightly) more luxurious Lusso models, was subject to a comprehensive restoration in 2011 and now comes to us with the engine working at a higher capacity. It’s in fine working order, carries an ASI registration and - for a little extra fun factor - has an air-horn installed alongside its usual unit.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered in 1971
  • Always based in Italy from what we understand
  • Underwent a total restoration in 2011
  • Fully rebuilt engine with larger cylinders and pistons
  • Complete with ASI CRS registration
  • Will be delivered with a valid technical inspection
  • Complete with original paper registration document

The Interior

  • Black interior, fully restored
  • Black vinyl seats with only light wear
  • Black dashboard with combined instrument binnacle
  • Original Fiat-branded two-spoke steering wheel
  • Branded gearstick
  • Small shelf compartment to the dashboard
  • Restored carpets, protected by a new set of mats
  • From what we understand the ‘Frunk’ space is in good order

The Exterior

  • Highly presented bodywork with no dents or dings
  • No clear signs of corrosion across the bodywork
  • No blistering or bubbling around the doors or sunscreen
  • Very light blemishing to the paint in areas, though nothing significant
  • Chromework presents well with no major faults
  • New black contrast front and rear screen seals
  • Glasswork and lenses look to be in good order
  • Underneath, the car shows light wear but is free of corrosion
  • Wheel arches look solid with no perforation we can spot
  • Car is sat on its original disc wheels
  • Tyres look to have plenty of tread

The Mechanics

  • Original Fiat 500 I2 engine, originally 499cc
  • Fitted out with larger cylinders and pistons, uprating the displacement to 595cc
  • 4-speed manual transmission
  • Engine was fully rebuilt across 2011
  • We’re informed car is now in excellent working order
  • We’ve no reports of any leaks, knocks, bangs or smoke from the engine
  • Car will be supplied with a new technical inspection certificate

Summary

With a sensible engine upgrade, and a very nicely kept Lusso interior, we’re sure this stylish piece of automotive history will turn plenty of heads - and could make a very versatile daily driver, too.
