THE APPEAL
Sold from 1957 to 1975, during its long life the Fiat 500 has charmed countless fans all over the world, thanks to its irresistible design, its unexpected practicality and its unique, fun and engaging driving experience.
Iconic and immediately recognisable, it is the most versatile and usable microcar and enjoys the passionate support of hundreds of clubs around the world and a huge availability of spare parts that make its maintenance extremely simple.
Launched in 1968, the 500 L “Lusso” was a more equipped and mature 500. The most obvious outside difference is the adoption of chrome tubes to protect the bumpers (the so-called little-Hercules system), to offer to the ride of choice of Italian city-dwellers greater protection in parking lots and in urban traffic.
Outside, the new rectangular FIAT badge and the chrome-plated windshield and rear window frame add a touch of refinement, while inside a new black plastic dashboard with a larger instrument panel and convenient storage compartments offer greater practicality and give the cabin a more modern look.
This particular 500 L is in very good condition, having always been carefully looked after and scrupulously maintained after receiving a thorough professional restoration a few years ago, which included sandblasting, fixing and repainting the bodywork, accurate repairs of the undercarriage and a thorough engine overhaul.
Still equipped with its original plates, this 500 is ready to give great fun to its next owner and a smile to those who will see it drive by.
