The Appeal

It's easy to see why the HY is such a popular basis for catering van conversions. Its tall body provides ample standing room for those working inside, while its boxy silhouette and corrugated panel work are so evocative of idyllic European villages.

This 1971 example was imported to the UK in 2021 and that's when the vendor acquired it for their café business from specialists HY Van World. Inchmere Designs were tasked with completing the conversion, removing the bulkhead between the cab and load bay and fitting the van out for catering. It comes with all the equipment including the oven, refrigerator, high-end coffee machine and much more besides. Unlike many converted HY vans, this one is in good running driving order, so is able to be driven between venues.
