The Attractions

Several years before a conventional 911 Cabriolet went on sale, Porsche introduced the innovative concept of the 'Targa Safety Cabriolet', a car equipped with a roof with a removable central panel that allowed the fascination of open-air driving to be enjoyed without compromising the structural integrity of the car. The Targa was a great success and became a style icon, coveted by sports car enthusiasts the world over.
This 1970 example has certainly seen better days, but it is certainly worthy of restoration. It takes little to imagine how splendid it will be to admire and drive once completed. This is a unique opportunity to bring a 911 Targa back to life just the way you always wanted it.

The seller told us a little about the history of this 911:
"It has had 11 owners before me. In the 1980s it was already considered a classic, and to be seen driving a Porsche 911 Targa was synonymous with success and good taste. But then the new owner discovered that the maintenance, stamp duty and insurance costs were exorbitant, and so the car continued to pass from hand to hand.
I found it at a wrecker's about ten years ago, it had been fitted with a 200 hp 3.0 engine - a typical 1980s modification, as the engine and gearbox mounts had remained identical. After removing the engine and gearbox, a complete restoration was started, but during the work I was contacted by an elderly gentleman who was desperate to have the restoration completed by his trusted coachbuilder and the interior redone.
A few months after we had agreed on the sale and transfer of ownership, the buyer backed out due to personal problems and the car returned to me, but without any change in the documents, as we had not yet completed the transfer of ownership.
Since the first momentum of the restoration had been halted and I had devoted myself to other projects, the car remained stationary for about eight years."
