Highlights
- Desirable gt model
- Original condition
- Great project opportunity
The Appeal
The MBG is probably Britain’s most loved sports car, and for very good reason. Their simple design, sporty looks, and pokey little 1.8-litre engine made them great fun to drive and own. They were so popular that they sold over half a million units, and the availability of parts and specialist support meant they were easy to work on.
Owned by an enthusiast for a number of years, it was purchased by the current owner with the intention of restoring it, but a change of circumstances means it has to find a new home.

- V5c present

- Age related wear is evident on the dash and interior panelling
- Door cards in good shape
- Headlining shows no signs of sagging
- All gauges and electrics work
- Face-off CD and MP3 player - although aerial appears to be missing so radio doesn’t work

The Exterior
- Painted in Flame Red from its original colour of yellow
- There is some light corrosion around a few of the panels which will need attention if its to be brought back to its best
- Chrome is started to pit in places
- Four good tyres with plenty of tread left
- Lights all work and are free from any cracks or damage
- Loose wiper on drivers’ side might need some attention
The Mechanics
- 1,798cc petrol engine
- 4-speed manual gearbox
- Good oil pressure
- Four new spark plugs fitted in September 2021

- Rear brakes were replaced by previous owner
The Summary
This could be a great restoration project for someone that has the time to devote to it, and with the availability of parts, it is very achievable. The bodywork may require some attention but the engine appears strong, so it could equally suit someone that fancies a stylish little runaround, and being tax and MOT exempt means it could be achieved without braking the bank.
