The Appeal
The W113 set a template that every SL in the intervening 60 years has followed: handsome, understated styling, sufficient power, big, comfortable seats and a general sense that you have bought into the Rolex of open top motoring.
The 280SL is, of course, the one to have thanks to its 170bhp straight six. And ideally with an automatic gearbox, as here, because it leans into the Pagoda’s cossetting demeanour.
This pretty silver and black car has led a charmed life, much of it spent in California and, since 2004, on the Algarve with the current keeper. The result is a very well kept car in great, usable condition.
Recent work by The SL Shop has included a full service, general check over and fitting a new hood. The vendor reports that the specialist was very complementary about the condition of the underside - you can check for yourself in the photos.
The car is ready to go and supplied with its matching factory hard top.

For those in the market for a good, honest W113 in the right specification, here is your opportunity. The car has been lightly used and the condition clearly reflects that, plus its life in a dry climate.
The stylish silver and black colour scheme is in good condition throughout, showing only light signs of ageing. These appear to be cosmetic so could be lived with or lightly improved whilst enjoying the car. A new soft top and good condition hard top complete the picture.

- 4spd automatic gearbox
- Recent engine work and service by The SL Shop
- Runs on unleaded fuel
