The Appeal
By the 1960s, Rolls-Royce were beginning to look decidedly stuffy amongst its contemporaries. Cool Britannia had brought in a ton of revolutionary designs, while Rolls were lagging in tradition. The Silver Shadow was the remedy. A sleeker, lighter Roller that boasted the creme de la creme of ride quality, comfort and quality. It was still a big old luxury coach for the elite, but the modernised lines now seemed much more befitting of rock stars and celebrities. Put simply, it was cooler.
This example, which rolled out of Crewe in 1969, is a particularly distinguished example, having been cossetted by its previous owners. With an enormous selection of paperwork behind it, we’re confident that this is an utterly superb retro classic.
