The Appeal
The two-door Silver Shadow was one of the last major jobs undertaken by Mulliner Park Ward. And what a clever job it was, evolving the chiselled, upright Silver Shadow into something altogether sleeker and more GT-orientated.
These were eye-wateringly expensive cars when new, which likely explains why just 571 of these ‘MPW’ cars were built over five years. This very low mileage car has to be amongst the most original, beautifully finished as it is in green with a matching ‘Everflex’ roof and tan leather cabin. It has a lovely sense of history thanks to its unrestored yet very tidy condition.
The car remained with its first keeper until 2019, when the vendor acquired it. Since then he has expended nearly £36,000 on sympathetic improvements via specialist Ranmore Rolls-Royce. The work has respected the originality and patina whilst improving the reliability.
The early MPW is a paean to the coachbuilder’s art. This remarkable car is one of the most unmolested we’ve seen in a while and comes with excellent provenance.
