THE APPEAL
Little did Porsche know in 1963, when project 901 started and later changed to 911, it would become one of the most famous model cars on the planet, the Porsche 911. Known and loved by millions worldwide, the 911 has continued to develop, now onto the eighth generation of superb design and engineering.
This particular model is a 1969 911E, a UK car that was fully restored around 2010 to an extremely high standard. Rebuilt to the original specification using the correct colours for the interior and exterior, the car still looks very fresh.
The other part of the restoration has seen the engine and transmission get a complete rebuild, which is documented with an extensive collection of photographs and invoices for parts purchased and work carried out.

THE INTERIOR
- Presents extremely well
- Retrimmed seats to original leatherette beige 9824
- Fully soundproofed with Dynamat
- Original steering wheel
Inside, the Porsche is in superb condition and presents really well. The seats have been retrimmed in a beige leatherette material matching the original. There are minimal signs of rubbing on the piping of the driver's bolster, but the seats would be described as being in excellent condition. The rear seats are trimmed to match and, again, are in excellent order, as are the matching door cards.
The dashboard is finished in black to match the door card tops and is free from any splits or cracks. The instruments are in good condition and reported to be working correctly with no apparent scratches on the faces, and the odometer has a reading of 88,491 miles. There is a small amount of shrinkage to the material on the glove box fascia and just to the right of the original steering wheel. However, this shouldn’t be a difficult part to have retrimmed by your local car upholsterer if desired.
The carpets have been replaced with a fitted set that is edged with leatherette. These are in excellent condition with no signs of excess wear. Up above, the headlining sits nice and tight across the roof and sunroof.
Inside the front storage area, the carpet matches the interior and is in excellent order. Lifting this reveals a spare Fuchs alloy wheel. The batteries were replaced three months ago, and the petrol tank has been coated to prevent scuffs. There is also a tool kit with assorted spanners, screwdrivers, and a fan belt.
THE EXTERIOR
- Finished in the original colour of Dunkelrot Metallic 6854
- Paintwork presents superbly
- Excellent chromework
- Fuchs wheels
What a stunning colour! The 911E was repainted during the restoration in its original colour of Dunkelrot Metallic 6854. Since then, it has recently received a machine polish and is in fantastic condition.
Starting at the front of the car, you'll be doing well if you can find any stone chips; having covered so little mileage since the restoration, these are minimal (if any). The chrome work is in superb condition with no tarnishing to the headlight surrounds or grilles. The headlights themselves, along with the sidelights and indicators, are in like new condition. The bonnet aligns straight with the wings and has the seals in place, keeping the storage area clean. The windscreen is in excellent condition, and the seal is like new with no perishing.
Looking down the sides of the 911E, you will instantly notice the classic 911 silhouette, which confirms why these cars are much sought-after. The doors fit like a glove with an equal gap, the chrome window trims, door mirrors, and handles are in excellent condition, and no scratches were noticed in the windows. The quarter windows open and close as expected, and the seals are in good order. The Porsche also has a factory option sunroof which operates as it should.
Around to the rear, the light lenses, like the front, are like new. The bumpers are free from any scuffs, and the engine cover sits nice and level and wears the gold-coloured 911E SPORTOMATIC and PORSCHE badges which are in good order. The rear window is excellent and held in with a perish-free seal.
The only choice for an early 911 is the beautiful Fuchs alloys. These are in excellent condition with no signs of damage or corrosion. They have been wrapped in a set of period correct looking Vredestein tyres.
THE MECHANICS
- Rebuilt 2.0 901/11 engine
- Four-speed Sportomatic manual gearbox fully reconditioned
- Recent new battery
With a rebuilt engine, give the 911E a little bit of choke, and the 2.0 litre flat-six fires into life with the distinct sound we all know and love. No untoward noises are coming from the engine, and everything appears to be in good order inside the well-presented engine bay.
The four-speed Sportomatic transmission has been rebuilt and therefore is working as it should, with a smooth gearchange and free from any unwanted noises. The car is reported to pull well through the gears and be a smooth drive. The brakes on the 911E are said to work correctly with no issues pulling to either side or juddering through the pedal.
SUMMARY
This is one of those moments where it's a rare chance to own one of your dream cars. This iconic 1969 Porsche 911E was fully restored around ten years ago and has covered approximately 700 miles since then.
An excellent example inside and out, and better still, you don’t have to go through the process of sourcing parts to finish a restoration; this is one of the very few which is completed and ready to jump straight in and enjoy, just in time for the warmer months ahead.
