The Appeal
Back when it debuted, who would have guessed that the MGB would go on to become the UK’s most popular sports car and today is the most prevalent classic car in the world, with over 20,000 known survivors in the UK alone, multiple owners’ clubs and an entire industry built up around its ongoing survival.
This one is a truly usable example – a smart and very solid-looking car finished in British Racing Green, with a recent new roof and smart tan leather upholstery. It’s not perfect, but it appears to be solid in all the right places and still looks great, with some room for minor cosmetic improvement.
The vendor received the car as a 21st birthday present in 2018 and used it as a cool retro car, but a recent move to London means he’s looking to get something a little more practical that he can use in the city. It’s a reluctant sale of a car he’s very fond of but needs must.
If you want an MGB Roadster that you can simply jump into and drive, then it’s a highly appealing prospect – it looks great, but not so perfect that you wouldn’t be afraid to use it – or alternatively it’s the perfect basis to develop and bring up to show condition, as the work it will need is generally minor and appears to be purely cosmetic.
