The Appeal
The Mercury Cougar was a huge hit the moment it left the gate. Introduced by Lincoln-Mercury on September 30, 1966, it soon accounted for over 40% of the division's total sales. It wasn't all that often that Lincoln-Mercury saw such a barnstormer at first strike, and in its first year it won a Motor Trend award - the only Mercury car to ever do so.
In 1969, the company introduced a slightly more straight-sided vehicle that lost none of the car's character, along with a new convertible body type. The result was that Cougars were soon proudly roaming the sun-bleached states in droves.
This key example has been based in Arizona for much of its life. This handsome car arrived in Finland in 2007, where it underwent an interior restoration, received a new soft top, and has had its distinctive patina on its bodywork. The result is pure muscle-car heaven!

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
