A sought-after Series 2 with a revised factory interior
One of 779 produced
The most
The name was simple, but the idea was ingenious. Taking the basics of its GT cars, including the characterful V8, and dressing them up in distinctive Frua-designed bodywork, Maserati created the first of its 'four-door ' cars. The Quattroporte was perfectly suited to transporting the wealthy and the professional elite at high speed between business meetings on Europe's new motorway network.
The original Quattroporte was revised in 1969, with the new 'Series 2' models receiving distinctive quadruple headlamps and an even more luxurious interior. Due to their very high cost, only 779 of these Quattroporte I 'Series 2' left the factory, of which this is one of the first produced.
Painted in a captivating metallic violet, a colour that changes with the light, this car is complete and in good overall condition, with significant recent work. This includes a complete rebuild of its 260bhp 4.1L V8 two years ago.
The car will require some work to pass MOT, including brakes, tyres and emissions, but it starts and drives well. Opportunities to acquire these models are rare, and this one represents an interesting way to invest and gradually improve it.
