The Appeal
Everyone should own a Land Rover at some point in their lives. These simply engineered 4x4s are amongst the most usable classic cars around; perfectly suited to family days out, a spot of off-roading or even to be put to work. Many Land Rovers have lived hard lives, so it’s rare to find a straight-original example in such good condition as this short-wheelbase 1969 Series IIA.
Resplendent in a coat of Limestone which was renewed last year, it’s a beautifully preserved example inside, out and underneath. It benefits from chassis refurbishment during previous ownership and a recently overhauled interior. Collectors will note the coveted Safari roof and free-wheeling front hubs which make this a truly stand-out example. The vendor reports that the 2.25-litre petrol engine ticks away smoothly and the Land Rover drives very well - proving great fun once you’ve mastered the technique.
