The Background
Marrying British style with American muscle, the Jensen Interceptor used a 6276cc Chrysler V8 coupled to an American autobox - only a handful were ordered with manuals - in the Vignale styled body. These were an expensive grand tourer when new and were well very equipped, even by modern standards.
With its long bonnet and big glass clamshell tailgate, this is one of the most distinctive GTs around, their rarity adding to the exclusive feel of them.

The History
The last owner kept this car for some years and spent around £20,000 over the last decade on restoration and improvements, including over £4000 on paint and many new parts big and small.
He put a lot of time and effort into improving the car, but has decided to part with it now, so it is now with a classic car dealer.

The Paperwork
There is a huge pile of paperwork with the Jensen with receipts for everything from fixtures to a full respray, all were kept as he went through the car refreshing or replacing parts as needed, from nuts and bolts to engine ancillaries.
The Interior
The interior is very original, the car was well appointed from the factory with deep carpet, leather seats and wooden dash as well as electric windows and an eight track player - Diana Ross is included!
There is patina of use on the front seats and the leather has cracked on the drivers seat bolsters, and there is a small split in the drivers door card. The wood on the dash and centre console is in great condition and it has a wood rimmed steering wheel which is in excellent condition with smooth shiny lacquer, and looks perfect in this cabin.
The carpets are in good condition and the rear seat looks little used. In the boot the carpets are new making it look fresh and clean.

The Exterior
Only a couple of years ago the car was fully repainted at a cost of over £4000 and the light metallic green looks fabulous, accentuating the Jenses’s lines, but sadly the new paint has micro-blistered on many panels including the roof and bonnet. However the panels are in perfect shape with no blemishes or signs of rust.
Brightwork such as the door handles and window surrounds have some pitting.
The Rostyle alloy wheels are unmarked and wear very good Nexen tyres all round which are only a couple of years old.
The bumpers have very good chrome, and under the front hang a pair of desirable Lucas square 8 fog lamps.

The Mechanics
A large amount of money has been spent under the skin. The brake calipers have been rebuilt by a specialist, it has a Falcon stainless exhaust with a lifetime guarantee, there are Spax shock absorbers all round and the power steering pump has been replaced to name but a few.
The engine, a big Chrysler V8, fires easily and idles smoothly and the Torqueflight automatic engages drive and reverse and moves smoothly, certainly at parking speeds. There are no signs of fluid leaks or accident damages around the engine bay, and looking under the car, the floor pan is clean and undersealed with no sign of corrosion to the body and that stainless exhaust .

The Appeal
These really are the ultimate classic British muscle car. one of the biggest V8s to be shoehorned under a bonnet on these shores, with Italian styling and British class it was something special.
With lots of care and expense over recent years, this Interceptor is a great driver and looks very solid, something ready to be used and enjoyed or taken to the next level with interior and paint
