The Attractions
The name 'Spider' has identified numerous Italian convertibles over the years, including Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat. The Turin-based company's Spider 850 was launched together with the Coupé version at the 1965 Geneva Motor Show, with an 843 cm³ engine suitably tuned to deliver 49 hp, increased to 903 cm³ and upgraded in 1968. A power that may seem meagre, but thanks to its low weight of just 725 kilograms, it allowed the 850 Spider to reach 145 km/h.
This 1969 example is particularly attractive thanks to significant attention recently received, including a complete repaint and restoration of the chrome bumpers, making it as beautiful as it is fun to drive. The seller informed us that the engine and other mechanical parts have been thoroughly overhauled and that the last service was carried out only two months ago. The electrical system was also restored and serviced in April 2024.
If you're looking for an 850 Spider in great shape and ready to drive, this really is an opportunity not to be missed.
