The Appeal
The popularity of the original Mk2 shape saw it remain in production even after the XJ6 arrived in showrooms. The Daimler version was in particular demand as there was no V8 option on the new car.
This V8-250 was one of the very last built and left the factory with the desirable power steering and automatic gearbox options. That makes it particularly suitable for road trips and classic car tours where these cars offer a relaxing and very comfortable experience. It is finished in Sable, a colour popular rare on a V8-250 but popular with the XJ6. William Lyons famously selected his own XJ6 in Sable.
The first keeper retained the car to 2007 and the current one acquired it August 2023 as a project requiring light recommissioning. In between, it was restored, which meant the recent work was limited to mechanical fettling.
Today it shows some signs of age inside and out but, thanks to that recommissioning work, arrives with the buyer in good mechanical health and ready for new adventures.
