Highlights
- One of just 4,542 MGC Roadsters made of which fewer than 2,000 were right-hand drive
- Manual gearbox
- Accompanied by a sizeable history file
- Offered in very good overall condition and reportedly driving beautifully
The Appeal
At launch, it was the most powerful MG sports car ever built. Developed as a replacement for the Austin Healey 3000, which was also produced at the Abingdon plant, the MGC was based on the hugely successful MGB. Indeed, it looks very similar, besides a prominent bonnet bulge that accommodates that big 3.0-litre straight-six.
This 1968 manual example is a fine specimen of the coveted Roadster, of which there are reported to have been fewer than 2,000 ever made in right-hand drive. The (lucky) vendor won the car online, so know relatively little of its history although a wealth of paperwork accompanies the car for the next owner to study. As the photographs show, the car looks in very good condition and we're informed that it drives "perfectly".
If you're looking for a powerful British GT, be sure to try an MGC before you shell out for a Jaguar, Jensen or Aston Martin of the period. This one's a lovely example that ticks all the right boxes.
