The Appeal
An automotive manufacturer with an unmatched off-road reputation and links to militaries globally, Land Rovers’ series models may seem like a simple and humble utilitarian vehicle, but its impact on the automotive industry has helped it build a legacy and become one of the most sought-after line of classics with enthusiasts and collectors alike.
The Series IIA, released in 1962, is arguably the most recognised variant of the ‘Series’ Land Rovers, thanks to its usage and appearances in films and TV shows throughout the 60s, plus agricultural and military use has all added to its charming heritage.
Presented in fantastic condition, this 1968 Lightweight Series II initially started life in the Military and displayed the recognisable RAF colour. In 2005 and under previous ownership, the vehicle underwent an extensive restoration with a conversion from the usual 2.25 Petrol until to a mighty 3.5L V8 from a Range Rover.
Accompanied by a large folder of invoices, ribbons from its multiple car show wins and a Sankey trailer that is finished in the same delightful colour scheme, this Land Rover is a gorgeous and attractive classic that stands out at shows and makes an impression where it roams. In great health and ready to use, this classic Landy would make a great purchase for any keen enthusiast looking for a usable vintage Land Rover with a little twist.
