1968 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 MOD

Highlights

  • Just four owners from new
  • Older restoration, sparingly used
  • Desirable factory spec with overdrive and power steering
  • Thick history file including engine and gearbox rebuild
  • One of the very last 3.4 S-Types built

The Appeal

In the mid 60s Britain’s criminal underworld grasped a truth that it took the police a few years to cotton on to. Jaguar’s new S-Type, with its independent rear suspension and powerful XK motor, was essentially a four door E-Type. As such it was perfect for transporting a bootful of swag and a collection of colleagues swiftly and deftly away from the scene of the crime.
The S-Type was replaced by the altogether less sporting XJ, but not before this example left the factory. Just 45 3.4L RHD cars followed it out the Browns Lane doors before production ended.  Smartly finished in Old English White over red leather its desirable specification includes factory power steering and overdrive.
With just four owners from new and a thick history file, this is clearly a well-cared for and historically significant car.
