The Appeal
With a wide range of clientele, ranging from nobility to petty spivs, the MK II has survived the well-documented ownership profiles of its past, and the majority of remaining examples live far more sedate lives. Yet that reputation for performance and posed road-holding continues to appeal to those looking for a stylish and unmistakable icon, that still manages to look and sound sensational. Also admired for its space and comfort, the Jaguar was available in a range of different engines, with the free-revving 2.4-litre straight-six being the entry-level option. However, coupled with a manual gearbox with overdrive, E-type induction and exhaust arrangements, the car was no slouch.
This solid and neatly presented late 1968 example of the 240, benefits from the increased state of tune over the original 2.4, which along with its recent new cylinder head, exhaust valves and head skim, coupled up with a stainless steel exhaust could surprise a few seasoned MK II devotees. Believed to have seen restoration work in the 2000s, it comes with a healthy batch of maintenance and restoration invoices and also comes with the bonus of an MOT to November 2023.

Summary
With a loyal following and a provision of a well-stocked supply of parts, the reputation of the MK II as a practical, comfortable and beautifully engineered classic has never been in question. This later 240 model also benefits from an extra little urge, thanks to a manual gearbox, its recent engine work and evidence of maintenance over the years. An original interior, mated up to a good overall presentation with the classic wire wheels is a perfect gateway into one of the most appealing 4-door cars ever built.
