The Appeal
AMC was late to the pony car party. But that was good news for buyers. Because, by lightly evolving the sleek Vignale concept, AMC created the Javelin, a car that was safer, more comfortable and spacious than the competition. And, in the form of the top specification 290bhp SST, more than a match in a straight line too.
Survivors are rare today, particularly ones as good as this car. It arrived in Spain in 1969 and has since had just four registered keepers. Last year the bodywork was fully resprayed in subtle white and the interior refurbished, both retaining the largely standard aesthetics that single this car out. The changes, such as they are, include larger chromed wheels and improved headlights.
The 343CI 5.6L V8 is said to be in good running order and benefits from a recent service and check over. Good Javelins, particularly the potent SST, rarely come to market. Don’t miss this one.
