The Appeal
While many became camper vans, the Volkswagen Type 2 was well-suited to a number of applications, one of which was as an ambulance. That's exactly what this T1 'Split Screen' was destined for when it was supplied new to South Africa in 1967. Imported to the UK and registered in September 2020, it has since been extensively overhauled and refitted, covering fewer than 200 miles since.
Equipped with neat features such as a rock 'n' roll bed, fridge, cooker, retro digital radio and various USB ports, this is a highly usable Type 2 and we particularly like the rear tailgate which can be used as an al fresco picnic table.
