The Appeal
Much like a 23-window ‘Samba’ Type 2, air-cooled Volkswagen enthusiasts revere 1967 Beetles. Known as the ‘one year only’ model in reference to the wealth of features unique to the year, the ‘67 was also the last Beetle to feature sloping headlamps and ‘towel rail’ bumpers.
This 1300 Deluxe has everything going for it. Assembled at the South African plant in Uitenhage, Cape Province, it’s a factory right-hand drive car that’s been owned by the same family since new. We’re assured that it remains entirely original and unrestored, with no evidence of repair, remedial paint or any notable wear besides charming age-commensurate patina.
Currently on the water and due to land in the UK by 12/12/2024, it will be available for collection from Norwich. The vendor is a former South African resident and is more than happy to assist with the registration process.
The vendor remarks on the Beetle:
“Cars of the 1950s and 1960s around the globe were huge and trimmed to the teeth in chrome.
“Cars of the 1950s and 1960s around the globe were huge and trimmed to the teeth in chrome.
Whilst most were like spaceships and were stunning to look at, they cost a small fortune to own and maintain. Enter the Volkswagen Beetle; it was basic, yet it still managed to fit the whole family. Its powerplant was a simple, robust and inexpensive small-capacity air-cooled flat-four
An instant automotive icon; the elementary choice for families, famously chosen by hippies circumnavigating the globe spreading love and it featured on screen, such as the 1968 film ‘The Love Bug’ starring 1963 Beetle Herbie.
It's got the combination of simple and bulletproof engineering coupled with equally simple maintenance and a drive that never fails to put a smile on your face this is the character of why Beetles always makes you do a double take. There are very few of these superb examples appearing on the market today, so don't miss the opportunity to acquire a piece of Volkswagen history as well as a very exciting automotive icon”
