1967 Porsche 912/6 RHD SWB RSR Evocation

Highlights

  • Well detailed RSR evocation
  • Nimble SWB 911 bodystyle
  • Stand-out orange RSR livery
  • Good condition car
  • Upgraded to flat-six engine
  • Full engine and gearbox rebuild

The Appeal

Porsche’s original RSR is often acclaimed as the greatest 911 ever built. Perhaps it is the distinctive ‘duck tail’ spoiler, the stand-out colour schemes or the car’s status as the original ‘homologation’ special that set the template for a lineage of high performance road-to-track racers.
Whatever it is, with few built and values in the stratosphere, a real world alternative for enthusiast is a RSR evocation like this one. Based on a SWB 912 that has been upgraded to 6cyl Porsche power, it is a very well detailed example in classic orange.   The car has had a full engine and rebuild at considerable cost.
Good replicas are big news in the 911 world and this much-loved car is a great opportunity to join in and stand out.

The History and Paperwork

  • Records indicate this is a 1967 car
  • First UK registered on 1st August 1969
  • Two registered keepers since first registration
  • Current keeper since 20th December 2018
  • MOT exempt with last MOT expiring on 9th October 2020 with no advisories
  • ‘35’ VIN prefix confirm this as a genuine 912 built by Porsche rather than Karmann
  • 76,801miles displayed

The Condition

  • Classic RSR-correct orange paintwork in good order
  • Well kept bodywork with no visible corrosion or damage
  • Well detailed RSR replica kit including front and rear spoilers and duck tail
  • Fuchs-style black five spoke alloys with polished rims
  • Steel spare wheel
  • Bridgestone tyres in good order with plenty of tread showing
  • Upgraded interior with black sports bucket seats with harnesses
  • Revised 912 dashboard with auxiliary dials fitted
The trick with any Porsche evocation is to get the details right. Here is where this car delivers, the replica kit including the iconic duck tail and body colour front and rear bumpers. The decals and badges are also correct.
The car is built on the SWB chassis, which provides a taut profile enhanced by its stand-out orange paintwork. It is well kept, as is the bodywork which shows no signs of corrosion or damage. Inside the upgrades continue with black high-backed bucket seats with harnesses and upgraded 912 dashboard with auxiliary dials.

The Mechanics

  • Porsche flat-six engine fitted according to vendor
  • Originally factory supplied as a 1,582cc four cyl flat four 912
  • Engine and gearbox rebuilt at considerable cost
  • Factory manual gearbox
  • We have no reports of mechanical or other running issues
This car left the Porsche factory, according to VIN records, as a 912 with the 1.6litre flat-four engine. We understand that it has been upgraded to a flat-six Porsche engine. The car has been very sparingly used since 2013. But we have no reports of any mechanical or running issues.

The vendor tells us that the engine and gearbox have been fully rebuilt at considerable expense.
