The Appeal
It’s not often you get to grab a piece of motoring history once owned by the original Material Girl, but here you are. Madonna and her son Rocco bought it in 2021 and kept it until 2024. In that time she invested lots of money - including a full engine rebuild - and, according to BBC news reports, used it for photo shoots.
You can see why it would appeal because the Mk X is one of William Lyons’ most distinctive cars. Built to compete in America - hence it is the widest Jaguar ever built - and channelling the sculptural style of the E-Type, the Mk X was the precursor for the XJ6 and is a rare classic saloon par excellence.
Finished in smart burgundy with a cream leather cabin, this late-model example is tidy and very usable. It is reported to have only covered around 2,000 miles since the engine rebuild and benefits from a recent service. There is an issue with the engine to attend to, but we understand that the car runs and drives acceptably.
A thick history file suggests that the low displayed mileage may be accurate, but isn’t verified. The Mk X is as stylish as any 60s Jaguar saloon but amongst the rarest. Here is a chance to own a slice of homegrown transatlantic style and sit where music royalty have sat.

CSG••••
SellerGood afternoon. I have driven the car to two mechanics who have quoted me from £1500 to £4500 to carry out the repair. I would highly recommend that any buyer takes the car to their trusted mechanic for clarity.

Any ideas of costs to repair any of the three items mentioned ?

'bearings, tappets or timing chain' Really? Difficult to think of 3 more different sounds... So, which is it?
