The Appeal
Lets be glad that Jaguar took its time to get the new XJ6 right, because those delays resulted in this car - the 420. Neatly blending styling themes from the Mk2, S-Type and forthcoming XJ, these rare cars are canny buyers for collectors because they also feature the bigger 4.2L XK engine, the independent suspension shared with the E-Type and luxurious wood and leather interiors.
The current keeper bought this lovely red ‘67 car a few years ago to run as a wedding car. That work has funded useful maintenance and improvements and means it arrives on the market in good, reliable condition. The beige leather interior is key to its appeal, mixing light patina with some new trim and the usual array of 420 hand-finished features.
The displayed mileage of a little over 53,000 miles is reported to be genuine. Although it is registered as a Historic Vehicle - so MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt - it is a mark of the current keeper’s attention to detail that it carries a long, voluntary MOT to late October 2025.
With their power steering, auto boxes, comfortable seats, cossetting Jaguar ride and spacious boots, these later classic Jaguars are perfect for weekend drives or longer touring with family and friends. This car looks ready-made for such enjoyment.
