The Appeal

Crayford Auto Developments were effectively the centre for all manner of European conversions and refitting during the 60s, 70s and 80s. Set up in Westerham, Kent, by Jeffrey Smith and David McMullan, the company had a vast repertoire of conversions and refits, one of which was this - the Cortina MK2.

Taking advantage of the Cortina's already handsome lines, this was a handsome, determined convertible. Adding the factor of wind-in-the-hair driving was a guaranteed hit for Europe's answer to the pony car, and they were soon selling as fast as Crayford could sell them. In the end, maximum throughput was no more than 10 a week - making these incredibly scarce cars.

Based in Spain from new, this example has been beautifully restored and is now ready and waiting to charm the lucky new owner. It retains its original registration and casts quite an engaging timewarp.
