The Appeal
Closely related to Jaguar’s Mark II, the Daimler 2½ litre V8 takes that successful fast executive saloon and treats it to a V8 engine, making it something quite special. Externally one of the few differences is the fluted radiator grille, a long standing feature of Daimlers, harking back to the early days of motoring when Daimlers featured extra cooling fins atop their radiators.
This particular V8 appears to be largely original, with an interior which requires work but remains pleasingly undisturbed. The sumptuous leather seats look like they may be revivable and the veneered dashboard is untouched.
The car comes with spare parts, including a pair of S.U. carburettors, a bonnet and some carpet pieces, which will help with its restoration. In all, it appears to be a relatively undoubting project which deserves to be undertaken.
