The Appeal

The fifties had been a rough old time for BMW, and it wasn't until 1962 when things started looking up with the Neue Klasse. These Hofmeister-designed cars effectively created the image of a modern Beamer. This rather impressive performance Sedan took away from their practice of motorcycle-powered cars, bikes and increasingly unprofitable luxury cars and instead into a whole new market. It was, of course, an immediate hit - bringing the company back into solvency.

This 1967 example perfectly exemplifies what made the cars such a success in the first place. It's a remarkable looker, carrying a quintessentially period colour scheme of Sahara on Chocolate, and was lucky enough to spend much of its time in South Africa, where the hot climate has clearly assisted in keeping it in clean, solid order.

Plenty of work has been recently undertaken, and we expect any enthusiast will find plenty to love in the result.
