With an eye-catching exterior, a sleek minimalist interior is needed. Inside this Karmann, you’ll find the bare driving necessities that allow you to enjoy the pure joy that is driving around the world in this beautiful classic.
Upfront you’ll find two well-presented leather seats. This leather is presented in very good condition indeed, the passenger side is presented in great condition with only one of the tiniest marks to the driver’s side seat. The rear bench section looks as good as the two front seats. You will not be disappointed when you set eyes on these tan leather seats that’s for sure.
To match the tan leather seats both of the door cards are trimmed in the same type of material, and it is even the same colour. All of the trim is attached to the door with two door pockets to keep your belongings nice and safe during your drives in this wonderful little sports car.
Once you get comfortable in the simple seats you are sitting in front of a minimalistic kind of dashboard. Finished in the same colour as the exterior it is where you’ll find all of the driving instruments. Well, when we say all the instruments, we mean all three of them. The speedometer, a fuel gauge, and a large clock. No more, but what’s not to love about this pure simplicity? Think of all the complex screens and menus of modern cars that distract you from the joys of driving. Getting behind the wheel of this classic will be fun and liberating.

The Exterior

  • Total respray
  • Sleek styling
  • Void of paint bubbling
  • South African car – lack of rust
The simple Beetle running gear is shrouded in an elaborate and beautiful Ghia styled body. This makes for one of the nicest looking products to ever wear a VW badge. Wherever you drive this car you will always get a few admiring looks your way because where else will you find a car that looks this good for this money?
Throughout the majority of its life, this Karmann Ghia has been in the warmer climate of South Africa. Thanks to avoiding the salty conditions of UK roads it has survived very well and thanks to the recent restoration and respray every panel is in amazing condition.
It’s not only the large panels that are in great condition, some of the smaller details on the exterior are also presented very well. Some of these areas include the lights front and rear, the Volkswagen script on the rear section, and even the chrome items that are like new. Towards the rear, you’ll also find the icon twin, pea shooter-esque, tailpipes that add to the flare of this Karmann Ghia.
Even when you’re not out enjoying this car on the road, you will be enjoying looking at the amazing lines of this car. You cannot help but fall in love with this wonderful piece of 60’s styling.

The Mechanics

  • New engine fitted
  • Drives beautifully
  • Simple engineering
Underneath the Ghia designed bodywork, you’ll find the running gear of the much-loved VW Beetle. With simple engineering at the core of the Karmann Ghia this classic will be nice and easy to live with throughout your ownership.
During the restoration, the old engine was deemed beyond its life and a nice new engine was fitted to help this car get the use it deserves. The cost of fitting this new engine was just under £2,000 and you will get to enjoy this new vital component from day one.
Mated to this new engine there is a nice four-speed manual gearbox that just adds to the driving pleasure whilst out on the road.
Although this car looks stunning sitting still, it looks even better when on the move. As you don’t see many of these cars on the road people definitely love to watch this car drive on by. Thanks to the new engine this car should be a hoot out and about.

Summary

With so much work gone into the car’s recent restoration and the fact that it is a nice and clean South African example, this should be an excellent addition to your collection. Just think of all of the new and memorable experiences you can go on behind the wheel of this classic.
