Highlights
- Extremely rare SE4 GT model
- Original buff logbook and large history file
- Fantastic-looking car in show-worthy condition inside and out
The Appeal
Of all the Scimitars made by Reliant, the SE4 is probably the rarest with a production run of just 300 and only a handful of known survivors.
Using a straight-six engine from the Zephyr and Zodiac, the SE4 had triple SU carburettors and was in essence as rebodied Sabre Six, with a striking GT body styled by Ogle Design.
HDB 789D began its life in Stockport as a company vehicle for Derek Warburton Motor Cycles Ltd, and was the 262nd SE4 manufactured at the Reliant factory in Tamworth. It was used for many years and then laid up, before being acquired by a private owner in Wales in 2007, when it was restored over a three-year period onto an exchange chassis, with all new suspension, a mechanical overhaul and a gel coat respray in its original Manhattan Blue. It retains its original formica dashboard and has an incredible history file, including its original buff logbook.
It's a truly lovely and very rare car, which still presents beautifully several years after its restoration and is ideal for shows and touring, with impressive performance and stunning looks.
