The Appeal

The Morris Minor 1000 was born from post-war Britain doing what it did best - working with very little and cutting its cloth to suit its means. Britain's major car brands got together in 1951 with the creation of the British Motor Corporation (BMC), and led to one of the most successful - if undeniably austere - cars ever to meet the British market.

Inexpensive, beautifully designed and easy to maintain, the Morris Minor was a masterclass in that very British art form. It was an enormous success - often credited with getting Britain onto the road after the war - and by the arrival of the motorway in the 60s, had even been treated to a new 1098cc powerplant; the resultant Morris Minor 1000 was designed specifically to run on the new network.
Naturally, when Morris offered a chopped-top, the market responded enthusiastically. To this day it's an incredibly British eye for the convertible. Not quite a sports car, but certainly an incredibly fun drive - with the wind in your hair and an enthusiastic four-pot making for a highly desirable classic today.

This particular example has been tidied up beautifully. The combination of a new interior, a respray, and many new parts has left it in superb order. If you're after an undeniably smart mid-century British convertible, here's your opportunity.
