The Appeal
Grace, space, and pace. Not only Jaguar’s sales slogan at the time of the Mk.II, but possibly the best way to describe what it is like to own and drive a Mk.II. With its 3.4L straight six and 4-speed w/overdrive gearbox this Mk.II should be a pleasure to drive.
This example has been with the current owner since 2008 and has recently had a lot of money spent on recommissioning works, it has previously had a full restoration in 1996 as well. All of this work is documented in its large history folder.

The History and Paperwork
- Built in December 1965 it was sent to Henlys of London
- It was first registered on the 17th of January 1966
- In the intervening 57 years it has only had three previous owners as the current V5c states
- The previous owner did a lot of work to this Mk.II
- In 1989 he had the engine rebuilt along with a front suspension repair
- In 1992 the rear suspension was rebuilt
- In 1996 the car was fully restored
- This process was photographed, and these photographs can still be found in the history folder
- At the time of the restoration, the bodywork, chrome, interior, and wiring were all seen to
- The current owner acquired the car in 2008 and used it regularly in the summer months until 2012
- Due to work commitments, it has since been stored in their garage
- It has recently had circa £4,000 worth of recommissioning work carried out at Paul Roach Classics Ltd
- A lot of new parts were fitted throughout this process and the itemised invoices can be found in the gallery
- Over the years it has also received a few non-standard upgrades these include the following
- Power assisted steering (David Manners kit)
- Stainless steel exhaust
- Laminated windscreen
- Negative earth
- Halogen headlights
- Hazard warning lights
- Lights on warning bleeper
- This Mk.II has a wealth of paperwork that documents a lot of the work carried out
- You could quite happily spend an afternoon rummaging through it and building up a picture of its past life
- It is now your chance to enjoy this beautiful British classic
The Interior
- The interior of this Jaguar is jam-packed with high-end finishes
- Its leather seats to the wood that adorns the dash, door tops, and interior pillars, all make for a beautiful interior
- During the restoration in 1996, a new interior was supplied and fitted by Flying Cat Engineering
- Over the past two and a bit decades, this interior has aged well
- The seats are trimmed in a classy black leather and are complemented well with the matching black carpets
- These leather seats are all in great condition
- The rear bench seat in particular looks like it was fitted only a few years ago
- As you might expect the driver’s seat does show signs of use, but no signs of damage
- The front passenger seat looks to be in good condition too
- On the rear of the front seats, there are two lovely picnic tables
- Pull these down and you have a place to store your lunch, drinks, or modern tech
- To match the black leather seats, the door cards have been trimmed in the same leather
- On each door, the leather is undamaged and adds yet more class to the interior
- Atop the doors, you’ll find beautiful and shiny wooden accents
- All of the interior wood has managed to maintain a lovely sheen
- There are a few areas that show their age more than others, but no large areas of lacquer peel
- One of the previous owners decided to fit an aftermarket sunroof kit to this Mk.II
- With this open, the interior is filled with fresh air, perfect for those hot summer drives
- There was a little bit of headliner wear just above the driver’s seat on the retractable panel
- The rest of the headliner is in good condition though
- Heading into the boot section we are met by a large area, perfect for any luggage
- Here you’ll find some nice features such as the full-size spare wheel, jack, and hammer to knock off the spinners
- There is also a toolkit full of the essentials
- Overall, the interior of this Mk.II is in great condition and just waiting for you to hop in
The Exterior
- Isn’t this Mk.II a stunning looking classic?
- Its flowing curves and shiny chrome work make for a standout car that should never fail to turn heads
- Thanks to its restoration in the late 90s and only being used sparingly since the exterior is in great condition
- Its striking red paint is in very good condition across the body
- There is one minor dent to the O/S/R wheel arch, but it doesn’t look like it has cracked the paint
- All of the chrome on the exterior of this Jaguar is in amazing condition
- The front and rear bumpers are both void of any pitting or corrosion
- This can also be said for all of the other smaller chrome elements dotted around the exterior
- One addition that was made during the restoration was the chrome wire wheels
- These add to the whole classic look and make this car look even better
- Over the years these wheels have seen some wear and do show signs of their age
- On the roof, you’ll see the aftermarket sunroof section which looks to be in good visual condition
- Overall, the exterior of this Mk.II Jaguar is in very good condition
- Wherever you wish to display this car it will certainly stand out from the crowd
The Mechanics
- Under the bonnet of this Jaguar, you’ll find a lovely 3.4L straight-six engine
- This is then mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox with an overdrive function
- The overdrive will drop the revs when at motorway speeds, making it a more comfortable cruiser
- Starting up ‘on the button’ it purred away nicely when at idle
- Standing at the rear of the car you’ll get to hear the symphony that is produced through its stainless steel exhaust
- On the day of the photoshoot, the car manoeuvred around the Vendor's driveway with ease
- There was a slight screech from one of the belts, this should hopefully only need tightening
- As previously mentioned, it has just been through a large recommissioning stage and has had a lot of new parts fitted
- This work has included
- New anti-roll bar drop links, ball joints, work to the rear brakes
- A full service, a compression test, fuel pump, fuel hoses
- A carburettor service, a clutch slave cylinder, and much more
- This work has been carried out by Paul Roach Classics Ltd and amounts to around £4,000
- This Mk.II looks to be in very good overall mechanical condition
