The Appeal

Ford’s Galaxie 500 is all about an effortless, ageless type of Americana, one populated with endless blacktop, a burble V8 and leaning back and enjoying the ride. These cars, in their way, are as intrinsic to the culture as the Mustang. There’s even a critically acclaimed band named after them.
Understated styling, influenced in later cars by European cues, plus spacious cabins and rumbling engines, makes these cars popular on the classic car scene. Most Galaxies were LHD, of course, but the UK did officially get access to Canadian-built RHD cars. One resident who did was Mick Jagger, who bought a blue ‘64 as the Rolling Stones’ career took off.
This one is red but you can see why Jagger wanted one. The long, long lines are neatly detailed while inside there is plenty of space. This car was restored in 2017 and refinished in red, since when it has covered very few miles. It remains in good order with regular MOTs to 2020 showing few advisories. It is registered as a Historic Vehicle so MOT, tax and ULEZ exempt and has been little used since the last test.
The Galaxie 500, particularly the ‘65 to ‘68, is an American motoring icon. Channel its evocative charisma - or throw some Jagger shapes - with this lovely example.
