The Attractions
The Fiat 500 is such a famous car that it has earned a prominent place in European popular culture. Like the equally famous Mini and 2CV, these tiny city cars from Turin were simple and rather spartan. This clever and successful formula led to the creation of a small car with a big personality, capable of logging many kilometres with very low purchase and running costs.
The Giardiniera remedied the 500's most obvious shortcoming, the very little space available for passengers and their luggage. The station wagon bodywork made the 500 much more versatile, offering more space and proving perfect for the needs of artisans and small businesses, as well as being more comfortable for family holidays.
This 1966 example has been kept by the same owner in Pesaro for its entire life. It is still extremely original, having never received a complete restoration, only the necessary maintenance and some partial restoration work. This Giardiniera is therefore in very rare condition for a Fiat of this era, with all its characteristic 1960s personality still clearly visible.
