1965 Wolseley Hornet Shorty Convertible

Highlights

  • Extremely well carried-out chop
  • Very reliable
  • Delivery can be arranged

The Appeal

This car is bound to turn heads and put smiles on faces! This brilliant little car started out life as a 1965 Wolseley Hornet, and in recent years has been fully restored and hand built into a one-off ‘shorty’ convertible custom. The original body was chopped and the wheelbase shortened dramatically, the doors are no more, and part of the original roof now makes up a very clean panel above the rear boot line. It is an exceptionally well carried out conversion, with the bodywork appearing seamless. A real head turner, this brilliant vehicle has been to many classic car shows and garners interest wherever it goes.

The History and Paperwork

  • V5 Present
  • Hand built and fully restored in recent years
  • The whole car was completely rebuilt and professionally shortened
  • Extremely well carried out work, and this car has clearly been well loved and cared for

The Interior

  • True to the original Wolseley Hornet, it features a simple yet luxurious interior
  • The black dashboard is in excellent condition overall with almost no marks or blemishes
  • A very nice walnut wood dash panel mounted in the centre, and the Smiths gauges are in good condition with no cracks or bad marks on the glass
  • Unfortunately the odometer in the centre of the Smiths speedometer does not work, and as such the actual mileage on the vehicle cannot be ascertained
  • The tiny steering wheel looks the part and completes the shorty theme ● The lovely black carpets are also in fantastic shape, perhaps in need only of a light cleaning to really take this interior to the next level
  • The seats are black leather and are in superb condition with no tears or visible marks, and feature a brilliant set of orange body coloured belts which contrast the black fantastically
  • In the boot the great condition continues, the battery is set into the boot floor and there are no signs of corrosion anywhere

The Exterior

  • The paintwork is in truly superb condition, and is finished in Lamborghini Orange metallic paint with glorious gloss black highlights
  • Brilliant black 4 spoke wheels with chrome rims and in stunning condition with no kerb rash or any major blemishes or marks, wrapped in excellent tyres all round with plenty of tread left
  • The bodywork chop has been very well done, with no visible join lines or creases in the panels
  • The wonderful chrome bumpers and trims are all in fabulous condition, with no signs of corrosion or and major blemishes
  • The windscreen is clear, clean and free from chips or scratches, however there is some discolouration to the windscreen seal, however this is not major and would be easily rectified if desired.
  • Excellent looking Hornet lights and lenses are all in great shape and work as they should
  • The rear section of the roof on the original car was cleverly re-worked to produce a very neat and factory-looking rear section above the bootline
  • Historic number plates are also present on the vehicle
  • The recognisable Hornet front grills look really good and are in great shape. Overall an extremely well carried out ‘shorty’ chop.

The Mechanics

  • 998cc engine which has proved 100% reliable starting first time even after not being used for over a year
  • Shorty drives without fault everything works as it should do with the exception of the odometer and is sure-footed
  • The ultra-short wheelbase gives a brilliant road-legal go kart type of driving experience
  • When the original hornet was completely stripped for the shortening, any and all corrosion was eliminated, as such it is an extremely clean vehicle for its age

Summary

A real chance to own and enjoy a most unique little classic car that puts smiles on faces and guarantees great pleasure for owner and driver for many years to come! Delivery can also be arranged if required.
