The Appeal

Let’s take a moment to reflect upon how significant the purchase of a new Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was back in 1965. The £5,500 list price would buy you a sizeable house or ten Minis. It was a seriously expensive motor car, driven by the very wealthiest in the land.
This 1965 example has seen its fair share of action. It was used to drive actors Richard E. Grant, Paul McGann and Richard Griffiths to the premiere of ‘Withnail and I’ at the Leicester Square Odeon in April 1987. The car has also starred prominently in ‘The Ultimate Classic Cars Book’ by legendary motoring writer and presenter Quentin Wilson, a copy of which is included in the sale. Indeed, the Rolls’ extensive service history makes for fascinating reading, with a series of letters and hand-written notes included in the paperwork portfolio.
Provence aside, this is a delightful example of the marque in superb overall condition for its age. For those seeking a storied and highly usable example of this superlative Rolls-Royce, we can heartily recommend this example.
